Rory McIlroy had a birthday to forget during the second round of the Wells Fargo Championship, Sky Sports report.
McIlroy, who turned 29 on Friday, was in a strong position heading into the second round in his bid for a third victory in the event.
However, the Northern Irishman equalled his worst ever round at Quail Hollow, a 76 to see him fall down the leaderboard.

Despite a relatively strong start to his round, McIlroy bogeyed three of his final five holes and was in danger of not making the cut, with a par at the last just about enough to make the weekend’s play.
McIlroy is currently on +2 for his rounds so far, along with Tiger Woods who also just squeezed into the weekends action.
Both are nine shots behind the leader, America’s Peter Malnati, who followed up his opening round of 67 with a solid card of 68.
