Willet to compete at Wentworth

The newly crowned Masters champion has said that he will be teeing up at this year’s BMW PGA championship at Wentworth, according to the European Tour.com.

Willet, who took advantage of Jordan Spieth’s meltdown to win his first major. He has said it’s ‘always nice to compete in your home country’.

He said: “I’m looking forward to playing in the BMW PGA Championship and taking the Green Jacket down to Wentworth,”

“It’s a special week and the atmosphere is brilliant with every hole lined with fans.

“It’s always nice to compete in your home country, and I can’t wait to play in front of the home supporters and hopefully give them something to cheer about.

“BMW always put on great golf tournaments, and, as a player, you’re always looked after very well.

“It would be nice if I could add to my BMW trophy collection after making my European Tour breakthrough in the BMW International Open a few years back.

“After a couple of weeks’ rest I’m going to pick up where I left off, trying to improve each and every day. You can’t beat that feeling of winning and I want to give myself the chance of doing that as often as I can.”
