Grace looking to put a bad Masters behind him

Brandon Grace is out in front with Luke Donald after a five-under round of 66 at the RBC Heritage.

Grace carded back-to-back birdies on holes one and two to get him to two under par.

Grace shot further birdies on holes five and nine to finish the back nine on four-under par. The South African got to the lowest score of the day on six under after birdies on 13 and 15, but after a bogey on the last, he fell back into a tie for the lead.

Grace told the PGA Tour.com : “It wasn’t the best ball-striking day, but nothing’s easy on a day like today with the wind going all over the show.

“But it’s been nice, made a couple of putts which was good and I have been lacking with that the last couple of weeks.

“I’m excited, I had a nice weekend off not that you could call it a nice one off but it was a good one! I’m excited to be here. I played well in my last tournament here last year and you know it’s a nice place for me.”

The South African said it was key to get up and down from the bunker on 13. He said: “I think that was the key moment in the round.

“I thought, hit a six just down the left, obviously it’s not one of the green you attack and the thing just came out flying, whether the gusts dropped a little bit.

“We were actually down there in the practice round and hit a few balls out of the bunker and around the edges. We actually had to stop or we would have worn down the edges!”
